Meghan and Harry’s The Parents’ Network initiative is a pet project to help parents and families of kids lost due to social media bullying. We increasingly live in a cyber world where several activities of social media platforms can cause harm to the lives of their users.
The couple believes that their experience with social media has been horrid and that might be the case for several users, especially kids who experience bullying and may resort to suicide as the last solution to end their pain. According to the father of two, A kid could be going through,” rabbit holes,” and the parents wouldn’t know.
“And before you know it, within 24 hours, they could be taking their life,” Harry said. Meghan and Harry’s The Parents’ Network was launched during their bullying and suicide interview with CBS which aired on Sunday Morning. The initiative was launched in collaboration with the Archwell Foundation.
In the interview, the couple shared the experiences that triggered their decision to start the initiative. For Meghan, it’s a given considering how much hurt, the platforms have shown her. Not only did she date a prince as a black woman, she married him also causing her to be one of the most trolled Royal.
“When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma, I believe part of our healing journey—certainly part of mine—is being able to be really open about it,” Meghan said. Hence the need for The Parents’ Network initiative to help those who went through the pain of losing a loved one due to bullying.
The parents’s Network website showed that the initiative targets parents in the US, UK, and Canada. It further seeks to provide support through a free private community for parents and caregivers, parental guides to social media platforms, educational events, support groups, facilitators etc.
