Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex made no effort to attend his friend, Duke of Westminster Hugh Grovenors’s wedding although he received an invitation. Some members of the royal family were seen making an appearance at the society wedding event on Friday.
Even his brother and heir to the throne, Prince William served as an usher at the event. Perhaps the future king’s presence explains why the Prince failed to make a UK trip to rejoice with his friend. The last time the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex were seen together was at their father’s coronation in May 2023. Since then, both have made a show of coming into the same events at different times or after the other had left. Another member of the Royal family spotted at the event is Princess Eugenia.
The major theory on why the estranged prince snubbed his friend’s wedding was because he wanted to avoid his family particularly his brother, the Prince of Wales. But others state it may not be unconnected with security issues. Recall, that he and his family were denied security on the basis that they are not working Royals.
Per Harper’s Bazarr, the Duke of Sussex avoided the wedding because he didn’t want the media attraction that would come with it. On the other hand, People noted that he did not snub the wedding but rather told his friend on time, that he would not make it. The outlet shared that both acknowledged how rigorous it is for Harry to attend.
The outlet also cited that his presence at the same venue as the wedding will overshadow the couple’s union so it is best that he stays away.
