20 years after the first movie, The Devil Wears Prada Sequel is currently in the works as Disney announces that they have started shooting. Not much is known about the plot of the new movie but fans can’t help but wonder if the original cast will be back to reprise their roles.
Per Variety, cast members like Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep will reprise their role in the first movie while Anne Hathaway will not return. But that is because the new storyline does not feature her character. Unfortunately, fans of the movie are begging that her character should not be killed off.

Apparently, they wanted the original cast or nothing for the Devil Wears Prada sequel. Despite their clamouring, they might not get their wish as Anne Hathaway has already zeroed in her mind that there won’t be a sequel before the announcement.
At the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Anne told E! News, ‘I don’t think a continuation of that story is probably ever gonna happen.’ Besides, she would rather work with her co-stars and the director of the movie on a fresh project. She further shared that the movie was so iconic and that she wouldn’t want to worry fans with tainting the memory of the first with a sequel.
Although Anne Hathaway will not be reprising her role in the Devil Wears Prada sequel, screenwriter of the original movie Aline Brosh McKenna, who adapted the 2006 film from the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger will be back according to Variety.
The sequel will feature Miranda Priestley’s (Meryl Streep) navigation of a career in the more advanced world as conventional magazine publishing goes on the decline.
