Margot Robbie Opts For Black Versace Dress In Protest For No Barbie Nomination At The 2024 Oscars

It appears not being nominated for the 2024 Oscar for her record-breaking movie Barbie has Margot Robbie ticked. To protest, she rocked a black Versace dress against pink on the red carpet. A move that shook social media.

Interestingly, I think her feeling is justified as Barbie had eight nominations including the nomination for best actor but not for actress. And so she opted for her usual Barbie-inspired red carpet show looks and wore a strapless black Versace gown.

Margot Robbie rocked a Versace shimmery, structured look with help from stylist Andrew Mukamal. The metal-mesh gown is from the fashion house’s Fall 2024 collection. It featured a subtly sloped neckline and flattering draping at the hips, creating a gorgeous hourglass silhouette.

To further glamorize the outfit, she accessorized with a vintage, two-toned Fred Leighton cuff and matching ring. She had her hair parted in the with a subtle texture as the locks flowed down her back. The filmmaker looked typically gorgeous in a face of flattering makeup with peachy pink tones.

Margot Robbie was joined at the 2024 Oscars red carpet by her husband and business partner Tom Ackerley. On his part, he sported a black tuxedo, white shirt, and black bowtie. As stated above, despite Barbie’s impressive eight nominations, the Barbie star was not nominated for Best Actress, while Greta Gerwig was not nominated for Best Director.

America Ferrera was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film, with pundits saying her character’s impassioned speech on feminism sealed the deal. Another film with the most nominations is Poor Things, a graphic art house movie starring Emma Stone that has wowed critics.
