Keke Palmer completely murdered her look at the 55th NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday. The mother of one donned a black and white tuxedo-inspired ensemble complete with a cane as an accessory for the annual award ceremony.
The outfit features a white button-down with a satin bowtie and a white blazer. She accessorized with a black cane with a silver top. Her face further showed a sultry makeup look featuring wispy top and bottom lashes, a smoky eye with silver glitter and a sharp cat-eye as well as a matte, pinkish-purple matte pout.
Keke Palmer revealed the inspiration behind her black-tie look at the red carpet. ‘It’s a little ode to the entertainers, the vaudevillians, the Sammy Davis Jr.’s, Julie Andrews, a little Victor/Victoria,’ she told The Huffington Post on the red carpet. This year, she is nominated for Entertainer of the Year and also up for three other awards.
For the ceremony’s top prize, she is up against Colman Domingo, Halle Bailey, Usher, and Fantasia Barrino-Taylor. She also received a nomination for directing Big Boss and got a nod for her character voiceover performance in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder reboot. Her podcast Baby, This Is Keke Palmer is also nominated in the Outstanding Arts & Entertainment category.
‘It is such an honour to be recognized for doing something that you love,’ the five-time NAACP award-winner told Variety. ‘I have been performing since the age of nine, and I know I truly am blessed to have found something that I am very passionate about and that is entertainment,’ she said. ‘It is absolutely an honor to be recognized by such a historic organization like the NAACP, as well as to have been chosen for recognition by my peers.’
