Following the decision to amicably settle their differences through mediation, Sophie Turner has kick-started legal proceedings over Joe Jonas’s divorce and custody battle of daughters Willa, three, and Delphine, 17 months which made headlines worldwide.Â
The actress has asked to ‘reactivate’ their divorce proceedings, which were on hold as the pair went to mediation to try to work out a property and child custody settlement, as per TMZ. It is now apparent that the former couple could not reach a suitable account.
Sophie Turner is now asking for the judge to end the marriage and rule on who gets custody of their daughters via a court-ordered settlement. The mediation was an attempt to make their marital issues private but that will change now, with their filings which outline their disputes set to become public.Â
The former couple had major disagreements about where the children would live full-time. The Game of Thrones star wants to take them to her native UK, Joe wants to keep them in the United States. The pair had a prenup, so property is most likely not a point of contention, but it appears they are unable to agree on custody.Â
At the beginning of the divorce proceedings, Sophie Turner had to file a child abduction claim against Joe, though she asked the judge to dismiss it in January. Then, she claimed her musician ex was violating international law by refusing to let the children travel to be with her. In October last year, the duo set up a temporary custody arrangement.

Per DailyMail.com’s report, the outlet obtained court documents revealing that the custody arrangement grants each parent two weeks at a time with their daughters until January 2024 and allows the girls to travel back and forth between the US and UK. They can also travel anywhere in the US and the UK, meaning that she can bring the girls to England, which she claims will be their ‘forever home.’
On his part, the singer can take the girls on tour with his band The Jonas Brothers while Sophie Turner was able to spend Christmas with them in the UK with her family. At the time of the mediation, the court filing from her lawyer Stephen Cullen called the mediation ‘ongoing and productive’ and that the custody sharing comes ‘in anticipation of an amicable resolution of all issues.’
