Here's Why Madonna Called It Quits With Younger Boyfriend Josh Popper
Madonna first sparked relationship rumours with her younger boyfriend Josh Popper in February 2023. This is not the first young man that she has dated and is not the only celebrity to date a much younger man. Take, for example, 77-year-old Cher and her boyfriend Alexander Edwards who is 38 years old.
The star who recently completed her celebration tour has also dated men far younger than she is such as Guy Ritchie, Alex Rodriguez, Brahim Zaibat, Kevin Sampaio Andrew Darnell etc. However, her relationships for the most part have been largely private but that was not the case with the boxer boyfriend whom she just split with.

Madonna and Josh Popper went Instagram official in February 2023 and joined her in December for her celebration tour. The star and the boxer met after he taught her son David Banda boxing. This is similar to how Sandra Bullock and her late partner Bryan Randall met because of her children.
Before the relationship with her boxer boyfriend, the singer has been married twice and has six kids Lourdes, Rocco, David, Mercy and twins Stella and Estere. She recently rounded off her celebration tour with a free performance in Brazil which was hectic for the star and severely affected her relationship with the boxer.
The last time Josh Popper joined her on stage was in December 2023 and he has not been pictured with him for months before their recent breakup. According to The Sun source, the breakup was because the celebration tour proved to be a hectic period for the star, and the fact of several lawsuits over tardiness.
As told by the source, ‘Madonna has barely seen Josh for months because her schedule was so hectic. Things just fizzled out” Then continued, ‘There is genuinely no bad blood — they’re still fond of each other. At the moment their relationship doesn’t feel feasible and they’ve cooled things off, but they are staying friends.’
The break-up with Josh Popper report comes after Madonna rounded off her massive tour which was originally slated to kick off last year in July was postponed due to the star’s health. She came down with a bacterial infection that landed her in the ICU.
