Timothee Chalamet who plays young Bob Dylan was captured wearing a style inspired by the music legend. The sighting was at a shoot of the much-anticipated epic musical drama about Bob Dylan, A Complete Unknown which kicked off just over a week ago in New York.
On Sunday, the star was seen with some of the cast and crew filming a scene with the actor starring as young Bob Dylan, a pioneer of the new folk music revival in the 1960s. He was seen chatting around behind the scenes on the set and then sat on a city bench by himself before the cameras started rolling.
The biopic’s storyline which began after Dylan dropped out of college to travel to New York City in January 1961 saw Timothee Chalamet sporting an outfit inspired by him. The singer favoured the beatnik style and so the actor wore a brown suede jacket with a two-toned brown button-down shirt and blue jeans.
He paired the jacket with brown cowboy boots and had his dark brown locks styled up high and off his face after Bob Dylan. The focus for the day appeared to be the scene of Dylan (Chalamet) sitting on the bench in the city smoking a cigarette as he read a letter with a small bag stationed next to him.
The scenery was ideal for the period with extras dressed for the era, while old retro automobiles of the 1950s were either parked or driving around the actor. Timothee Chalamet was spotted shooting into the night. Directed by James Mangold, maintains the ‘movie isn’t a Bob Dylan biopic’, due to it being focused on a period of the singer-songwriter’s life, according to Rolling Stone.
A Complete Unknown follows Bob Dylan’s ascendance into a cultural phenomenon, his strong relationships in the folk music world, and his ultimate transition away from folk music, which saw him plug in and go electric and hire rock musicians for his album Bringing It All Back Home (1965).
It was Dylan’s first album to incorporate electric instrumentation, which caused controversy and divided many fans and those in the contemporary folk scene. With more than 145 million records sold, Bob Dylan is considered among the best-selling musical artists of all time. Timothee Chalamet stars as the star in A Complete Unknown but it does not yet have a premiere date. Â
