Chidimma Adetshina is currently in Nigeria to partake in the Miss Universe pageantry after withdrawing from the South Africa pageant. Recall that the Nigerian organization responsible for the pageant invited her to take part.
That was because the Nigerian model whose mother was alleged to be from South Africa was bullied into withdrawing from the show. This was because of her Nigerian origin and an investigation which proved that her mom is not South African.
Currently, Chidimma Adetshina is in Nigeria to partake in the pageant and the Big Friday Show could not resist having her on the show. Apart from giving publicity to the Nigerian Miss Universe pageant, the model could be a leading voice in navigating identity in a hostile world.
Sharing details of her identity crises, she said, “it has been a long journey. It has been so hard, I won’t lie, there were times when I would cry myself to sleep and be like, ‘Why me? I want it to end.’ There are times when I think that we have to look at the positive side when difficulties like this happen.”
