What people don’t know is that Water and Garri is not the movie where Tiwa Savage made her acting debut. The Afrobeats superstar was cast as Shade in the series MTV Shuga which focused on creating awareness for social issues such as safe sex, HIV, living with HIV, Domestic Violence etc.
The mother of one acted as the mother of an adopted son who is living with HIV which was transmitted at birth from his mother and was running a club called Badoo. From there she built a career as a musician and songwriter releasing hits such as “Somebody’s Son, Kele Kele Love, All Over, Malo ft Wizkid etc.
In her movie which premiered this May, Tiwa Savage detailed how she approached her first kissing scene in Water and Garri. Recall that the question of mouth and body odour has been rife on X formerly twitter with several users giving hot takes over which one is better.

The star did not want to fall hand so she revealed in a new interview with BET that she had to brush her teeth before a kissing scene which was her first scene in the movie. In her words, “The first day on set, I had my kissing scene. I am glad it was my first day because I just went right into it. I remember in my dressing room, I brushed my teeth like five, six times because I was like I needed to represent.”
“But, he was very lovely. All of the cast was. They were really, really nice,” Tiwa Savage finished. The movie Water and Garri feature the plot of Aisha, a fashion designer, who moves back to Nigeria. In Nigeria, she is forced to face violence which escalated and increased tensions.
Then she reconnects with loved ones and has to live with her scars and confront the guilt she left behind. Some of the cast include Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, Tiwa Savage, Jemima Osunde etc.
